Every built-in grill, regardless of its price, is susceptible to occasional malfunctions. Stay vigilant and maintain your grill with this comprehensive checklist.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE FOR BUILT-IN GRILLS:
- Keep the grill covered. To ensure your built-in grill lasts longer, always cover it after use to prevent rain from entering the drip tray or vents. A waterproof cover will be better.
- To maintain optimal functionality, remember to clean the grill's surface after each use. This prevents food and debris from drying and causing harm or attracting pests.
- Ceramic Briquettes require only seasonal cleaning, as most users prefer to maintain a 'seasoned' flavor. At the start of grilling season, clean them with warm soapy water and a soft brush.
- Some times of year are a nearly no-go for your built-in outdoor grill. But when the weather gets better and you're itching to grill again, be sure to give your grill a good once-over to check and clean all the different parts! Thoroughly clean burner inlets, orifice hood, igniter, sparkers, etc. Use a thin wire to clear out orifices and burner inlets to prevent insects from making homes.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
Burner won't light:
Check the gas supply to the burner by manually lighting the burners. Verify spark on pilot side of the valve when gas is off. Ensure spark area is clear of debris. Confirm presence of spark. If no spark, inspect valve and gas supply line for breaks or punctures.
Incorrect burner flame:
Ensure proper gas type (liquid propane or natural gas) is connected to the correct grill type. Different fuel types require specific burner parts for optimal operation.
Inspect burner gas inlet area for blockage and remove it. Examine orifice tops for clogging and clean them. Verify pressure if flame is insufficient or excessive. Monitor gas supply tank (Liquid Propane) for low levels. Ensure that all knobs are OFF when turning on the tank valve.
Irregular burner flame:
Ensure that the grill remains level and securely seated in the counter and stonework without any shifting. Verify that the burner is properly installed and level. Check the propane tank gas pressure.
