The ash pan is an important component of the most charcoal grills as placed under the grate used to contain fire debris and embers that fall beneath the fire grate. For Char-Griller charcoal grills, cleaning the ash pan is relatively easy, and although there are 3 different types, it is very convenient to operate because they are all removable.
a. For kamado style grills
Flip the buckle on the bottom of the grill, drop away the ash pan and dump out the ashes, then rinse the it with water.
b. For barrel style grills
Lift out the ash pan and dump out the ashes, tap the pan a few times to ensure that all the ashes are removed from the tray, then rinse it with water.
c. For firebox style grills
Pull out the removable ash pan drawer and dump out the ashes, tap the pan a few times to ensure that all the ashes are removed from the tray.
Be sure to empty and clean the ash pan after every cook. Wipe clean with cloth and keep dry. We recommend regularly coating metal parts with cooking oil. This will help the parts keep them in the best shape and prevent rust.
