Many of our grills come with cast iron cooking grates and they are incredibly popular. Cast iron retains heat well, offering an extremely hot cooking surface. This is especially important if you’re looking for those professional grade sear marks, the true sign of any seasoned griller! But cast iron is so easy to get rusted and dirty, hard to maintain it in perfect shape, that's what makes knowing how to cleaning it correctly looks so important.
First use a baking soda solution to remove the grease and you can try using a solution of baking soda if your grates are extremely dirty. Combine 90 grams of baking soda with 60 ml of warm water and apply the paste to the iron grates. After 20 minutes, clean it off with a brush made of wire bristles(like the one we offred) . You could also use tin foil to clean the grates
If the grill brush is hard to get or is inaccessible.
If your cast iron is get rusted, like we all know, Evapo Rust(here) is one of the most common rust removers for domestic use. (But if you are worried about the smokey barbeque flavor won't get perfect, do not use any chemicals rust removers then.) Apply rust remover on the iron grill grates and leave it for 3 minutes. Thoroughly brush the iron grates using the wire brush until the cast iron becomes visible. Leave it there for almost sixty minutes. Rub it, then finally rinse with warm water. Your grate is now as sparkling as the brand name one.
How to maintan my cast iron grates after cleaning?
To shield your grates and your entire barbeque, devote in an excellent quality vinyl cover. The cover must be made of heavy duty vinyl. Also, it must cover the hole of the grill. This will guard the outside of your grill, averting dirt and grime build up on outside shells. This would keep leaves and dirt from blowing into the interior.
