What is the Chain/Stick that Came with My Gas Grill?

Most full-size gas grills are equipped with a small chain with a small metal rod attached to the end of the chain.

This chain/stick is called a matchstick rack. If there is something wrong with the electronic ignition system, it can be used to light the grill manually.

The following figure describes the use of the matchstick rack on most models, but please refer to the user manual of the specific model before trying to light the grill manually.
