Access the Ignitor: the ignitor may be located in different areas. Typically, it is located near the burn pot or firebox area. Open the grill hood or remove any relevant parts to access the ignitor.

Disconnect the Old Ignitor: Locate the wires connected to the hot rod ignitor. They are usually connected to a terminal or a connector. Gently disconnect the wires from the old ignitor by either removing the terminal or unplugging the connector.
Tips: Take note of how the wires were connected for later reference.

Remove the Old Ignitor: The hot rod ignitor is usually held in place with a screw or a bracket. Remove any screws or brackets securing the ignitor to the grill. Once loose, carefully pull out the old ignitor from its housing.

Install the New Ignitor: Insert the new hot rod into the housing, making sure it fits securely. If there is a screw or bracket, reattach it to hold the ignitor in place.

Tip: How far in to pellet bowl should igniter be

The exact distance that the igniter in a pellet bowl should be adjusted to depends on the specific model of pellet stove or grill that you are using. However, as a general guideline, the igniter should be positioned so that it is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the pellets in the pellet bowl.

This distance is important because it allows the igniter to heat the pellets sufficiently to start the combustion process, but also ensures that the igniter does not get buried in the pellets or become too hot, which can damage the igniter or cause a fire hazard.

Connect the Wires: Match the wire colors or follow the reference you made earlier to ensure the correct connections. Ensure the wires are securely fastened to the terminals or connectors.

Test the Ignitor: Reconnect the grill and turn it on. Test the ignitor. The new ignitor should can heat up, indicating it is functioning correctly.

Reassemble the Grill: Once you have confirmed the ignitor is working, turn off the grill. Put back any parts you removed to access the ignitor, such as the grill hood or relevant panels.
