How to Replace the Controller Panel on Your Traeger Grill?

Replacing the controller on a Traeger grill generally the process involves the following steps:

  • Turn off and unplug the grill: Before you begin, make sure your grill is turned off and unplugged to avoid any potential electrical hazards.

  • Remove the existing controller: Unscrew and remove the existing controller from the grill.

  • Disconnect the wiring: Carefully disconnect the wiring from the old controller. Be sure to take note of which wire goes where, as you will need to reconnect them to the new controller later. Tip: before you disconnect any of the cable connectors, get out your phone. Take good clear pictures of how each cable connector goes to the other and of the back of the control panel. That way, you have a quick reference to check if you get lost.

  • Install the new controller: Connect the wiring to the new controller, making sure to match up the wires correctly. Once the wiring is connected, mount the new controller onto the grill using the screws provided.

  • Test the grill: Turn on the grill and test the new controller to make sure it is functioning properly. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for programming the new controller and setting the desired temperature.
